Quick Start
Hereβs how to go from raw dashcam footage to a fully processed map-enhanced video β in a jiffy!
Step 1: Load Your Dashcam Video
- Drag and drop a dashcam video file directly into the VirtuaDash window
OR - Use the File β Open menu to select your footage
The first time a particular file is loaded, VirtuaDash will generate a .json file with matching name in the same folder β this is normal.
Step 2: Set Your Trim Range
- Use the Mark Trim Start
and Mark Trim End
buttons to mark the portion of the drive you want to export - Preview the selection using the timeline and playback controls
- If you want to reset the trim markers to unset after setting them, use the Reset Trim Flags
button
Setting Trim Flags is optional. If no flags are set, VirtuaDash will export the entire video!
Step 3: Export!
Choose what you want to save from one of the Export buttons:
- Export Video Clip
β To export a video clip with side-by-side map overlay - Export Single Frame
β To export the current frame with side-by-side map overlay - Export GPS Track (GPX) β
- To export a GPX file that contains the GPS coordinates extracted from the file
All exports are saved in the same folder as your source video with filenames based on the original name. In case of an already-existing file, VirtuaDash will ask you if you want to overwrite it or add a timestamp to the name to make the new one unique.
